James Trumble
Founder & Board Member, Firefighters of Gem County Foundation / Assistant Fire Chief Kuna Rural Fire District
Assistant Fire Chief James Trumble brings more than 25 years of progressive fire service experience, leadership, and instructional expertise to the Kuna Rural Fire District. His career in the fire service began in 1997 as a volunteer with the Mount Laguna Volunteer Fire Department in San Diego County, California. During his tenure there, he completed both the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE academies and served on multiple large-scale campaign wildfires throughout the region.
In 2002, Assistant Chief Trumble joined Las Vegas Fire & Rescue in Nevada, where he would go on to serve with distinction for over two decades. His roles within the department included Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter, Engineer, and Captain. Over the course of his service, Assistant Chief Trumble demonstrated a deep commitment to training and operational excellence. He served as a Logistics Specialist for the Nevada FEMA team, was the Lead Instructor for the Engineer Development Program, and acted as an Advanced Driver Trainer within the department’s Engineer training division. In addition, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue’s Wildland/Urban Interface Program.
upon his retirement from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue in 2023, Assistant Chief Trumble was appointed Assistant Fire Chief for the Kuna Rural Fire District in Idaho. In this role, he continues to bring strategic leadership, operational insight, and a strong emphasis on training and community resilience. He is also contributing to the formation of an Incident Management Team in partnership with the Idaho Office of Emergency Management, serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Western Idaho’s Fire Service Internship Program, and is a board member for Firefighters for Gem County.
Assistant Chief Trumble holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Technology Management from the College of Southern Nevada and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Fire Administration through Columbia Southern University. He is also actively working toward obtaining his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Assistant Chief Trumble is a dedicated family man. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife, particularly enjoying date nights, fine wine, exceptional food, and premium cigars. He is also a passionate automotive enthusiast and finds great joy in driving his classic car. Above all, he takes pride in being a devoted “girl dad” to his two young adult daughters.
Kevin Jaillett
Founder & Board Member, Firefighters of Gem County Foundation
Kevin Jaillett is the cofounder of the Firefighters of Gem County Foundation and former Assistant Fire Chief of Gem County Fire Protection District 2. With more than 25 years of service, Kevin brings both frontline experience and strong leadership to the Foundation.
Kevin began his fire service career in 1997 with Cowlitz County District 5 in Kalama, Washington. During this time, he also served on the Kalama Chemical fire team, where he gained specialized training in responding to hazardous fires within a chemical plant setting. This early dual role laid the foundation for his expertise in both industrial fire safety and community-based firefighting.
After moving to Idaho in 2004, Kevin joined Gem County Fire District 2 in 2006. He quickly became recognized as a trusted leader and educator, serving as the department’s Training Officer in 2010 before being promoted to Assistant Chief in 2012. In these roles, he has been instrumental in developing training programs that emphasize safety, skill, and teamwork, ensuring volunteers and firefighters are prepared for the wide variety of emergencies faced in rural Idaho.
Over the course of his career, Kevin has gained extensive experience in wildland firefighting, hazardous materials, vehicle accident response, EMT response, and structure fire operations. He is especially passionate about mentoring the next generation of firefighters, bringing both professionalism and compassion to his leadership.
As cofounder of the Firefighters of Gem County Foundation, Kevin continues to build on his lifelong commitment to public safety. His vision and dedication play a key role in the Foundation’s mission to expand training opportunities, improve resources, and strengthen emergency response capabilities for the entire community.
Paul Anderson
Founder & Board Member, Firefighters of Gem County Foundation
Paul Anderson is a lifelong entrepreneur, community leader, and dedicated volunteer firefighter. He is the founder and president of Anderson Reserve, a nationally recognized steakhouse and butchery in Sweet, Idaho, as well as president of Prime American Steakhouse, a premier dining experience launching in Star, Idaho.
For more than seven years, Paul has proudly served the people of Gem County as a volunteer firefighter, responding to wildland fires, medical calls, and emergencies across the region. He is EVOC certified and BLS certified (Basic Life Support), and is currently pursuing his EMT certification to expand his ability to serve.
As the cofounder of the Firefighters of Gem County Foundation, Paul is committed to building stronger, safer communities by supporting volunteers with better training, equipment, and opportunities. A core part of his mission is mentoring and preparing the next generation of firefighters through education and real-world experience, ensuring that Gem County remains resilient for years to come.
When he is not working or responding to fire calls, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife, Samantha, and their two boys, Declan and Layne, often exploring the backcountry of Idaho together. His life is centered on service, family, and community — values that continue to guide both his business and firefighting work.

Sam Hansen is a cofounder and board member of the Firefighters of Gem County Foundation. With over a decade of business ownership, he has led multiple technology companies that provide internet access to rural communities nationwide, helping bridge the digital divide. He has also owned and managed an event company that has supported numerous charitable initiatives and fundraisers across the Treasure Valley.
Sam’s story is deeply rooted in Gem County. A lifelong Idahoan, he carries forward his family’s long history of living, working, and serving in the community. For him, the mission of neighbors helping neighbors isn’t just a slogan—it’s a way of life. Whether it’s supporting local families, building opportunities for the next generation, or ensuring that volunteer firefighters have the training and tools they need, Sam believes in stepping up for his community the same way generations before him did.
With a heart for service and a passion for preserving the Idaho values he was raised with, Sam is committed to advancing the Foundation’s vision. His goal is to see Gem County not only protected in times of crisis, but thriving—where every neighbor has the chance to succeed, and where the next generation can grow up strong, supported, and proud of the place they call home.
